Pattern & Fabric Donation: A Colorful Dress for an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox

My friend Joanne offered to sponsor a dress for my Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.  She let me choose a pattern from the See & Sew collection she sells and fabric and buttons to make it.

See & Sew Dress for an Operation Christmas Child shoebox.

She wanted me to use some of the new line of fabric she had just gotten in.  I was able to choose from any of these colors.

The pattern showed the top of one color and using a contrast for both the ruffle and the skirt.  I chose to use a third contrast for the ruffle instead.  I love to add bright colors to my shoeboxes and the more the better.  I adjusted the pattern just a little by adding to the length.

I asked her to choose a button, preferably the fuchsia color to match the skirt or a novelty button.  She found that she had these special heart, fuchsia buttons!  Perfect!  And I had a fuchsia shirt in my stash that matches perfectly, too.

You may want to check with local craft stores, they may offer donations of supplies for your shoeboxes.

If you'd like to craft some gifts to include in your shoeboxes check out our tutorial page:  Crafting for Operation Christmas Child DIY Crafts.  If you'd like to make your own dresses I have written a tutorial and included the pattern here:  Simple Pillow Case Style Dress Tutorial.

  1. What is this "see and sew collection" mentioned. Where is it available? What pettern number did you use?

  2. It is a series of easy to sew patterns -- this one is B6075. Here is a link to the online description. I do not know who sells them in your area. http://butterick.mccall.com/b6075-products-48772.php?page_id=678
