An Update from Cheryl & Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes Delivered

I wanted to take a moment to say hello and to let everyone know that I have not forgotten you all or my passion for sharing with others in crisis thru shoe box gifts.  I've had to re-prioritize my time and one of the things I had to cut out was time posting on this blog, but I hope to get started again near the end of the year.

Two things I hope to add to the blog this coming "shoe box" year are:

  • Twelve Months of Christmas Shoe Box Packing
    • I want to take two boxes, a boy's and a girl's, and post each time I tuck an item into them.  I hope to make lots of the items I include.
  • "Twin" Girl Christmas Box Packings
    • I know a special little girl who packs a box each year for Operation Christmas Child that I plan to send "twin" gift items to each month:  one for her and one for her shoe box.  She will be reminded each time she sees her own item of the little girl in crisis who will receive a box with a "twin" item.  I'm choosing to give her gifts this way instead of at Christmas and her birthday.  Psalm 23 has been the theme of all the gifts I have given to her since she was born and I will continue this theme in the box as far as I am able.

We have delivered our family shoe boxes to church for Operation Christmas Child and also have been able to take well over 200 filler items to our church's kids' packing party and I still have some left over to send directly to Samaritan's Purse for their collection centers to use. All of those Dollar General Flip Flops (I ended up with over 130) will soon have new homes!
