My Latest Giveawy Wins: Dress Pattern & Fabric to Make for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

I have mentioned several times that I am entering blog giveaways to be able to pack more boxes for Operation Christmas Child in 2015.  Several of the giveaways are for fabric and I recently won a gift card from Lady Belle Fabric.  I invited my daughters to join me in choosing fabric.

The three pieces on the left Elizabeth and I choose for dresses.  The three on the right Sarah choose for making things for her 10 to 14 year old girls boxes.  The frog and snail fabric, by Windham Fabrics, are adorable in person -- and the softness of the fabric is amazing!

The owner also included this free tiny, charm pack.  You can see how tiny the squares are by the size of the kiss.  I think there are 30 pieces of fabric. When Sarah saw it she said it would be perfect to include with one of the large sewing kits
we bought.  How fun!  And on a side note -- the customer service at Lady Belle is amazing, and within two hours of placing my order I had a shipping confirmation email.

Another fun win was from Whimsical Fabric's Facebook page.  She offers lots of fun giveaways or order discounts weekly.  This one was to choose your favorite pattern and you might win it.  I chose this adorable dress and I won!  It comes with sizes 6 months to 10 years.  And check out that cute kerchief!

I have been wanting to make something different than my pillowcase style dresses and thought this would be adorable.  I know that ruffle will take a lot of shoe box room, I may make it not quite so full.

So what do you think?  Put the fabrics from Lady Belle Fabrics (these are from the Up Parasol collection by Heather Bailey for Free Spirit )  with the Pink Fig pattern from Whimsical Fabrics?  How about the green background for the ruffle & sleeves, the flowered for the bodice and the final one as the sash & kerchief?

Very nice! I make some similar dresses and you can just lengthen the dress and omit the ruffle. It would still be very cute and the sleeves are a nice addition for girls that may not have something to wear under a pillowcase dress when needed.

Thanks, Lindsay. I'll have to look closely at the pattern and see if the dress part is full enough to be below the knee and still room to walk as with the ruffle. I know some society the shoulders need covered that's why I like this so much. I send t-shirts with my pillowcase dresses because of this.
