Eight Resources for Craft Patterns & Inspiration for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

Crafting for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes is a rewarding endeavor.  We can enjoy our hobbies of knitting, crocheting, sewing and more while helping kids around the world.  And if we craft more than we can possibly pack in individual shoeboxes we can donate them as fillers to OCC directly.  If you are like me, you
are always on the lookout for new items to craft.  I wanted to share some of my favorite places to find inspiration for my crocheting and sewing projects.

Eight of My Favorite Crafting Sites
(in no particular order)

An encyclopedia of sorts with links to thousands of free patterns and tutorials. They offer dozens of categories.  Some of my favorites from AllFreeSewing:

Same as AllFreeSewing--an index of free patterns & tutorials from across the web.  Some of my favorites to check:

3.  Pinterest

With millions of pins saved by people across the globe it is easy to find items I would never come across.  Not all the crafting pins are for tutorials and patterns, but I enjoy designing my own crafts and can find lots of inspiration just from the images.

Some of my favorites:

Pam, at Threading My Way, has dozens of ongoing link parties for bloggers to link up tutorials, patterns and items they have sewn.  Lots of inspiration and patterns to try.

Some of my favorites:

From the about page:   An informal and friendly page for people who make items for Christmas shoeboxes, or would like to.  Some of my favorite photo albums to scroll thru:

One of my Favorite Craft filled shoeboxes.  This was just the beginning--it included hygiene
& school supplies and toys also.  (Note:  this was pre-2017 when candy was allowed.)

Another index of free patterns and tutorials from sites around the web.  They have all kinds of crafts including sewing and crochet that I check.  I also like to check out the other crafts.  A couple of my favorites are:

Of course I often refer to my own craft tutorials since they are for what I like to include in my shoeboxes.  Some of my favorites:

Traveling Checkers tutorial

An index of crafts from many sites to be made for and by kids ages 1 to 18.  Some of my favorite categories to check:

A dress and hat I made for a past shoebox.

I have shared images of several of the items I've crafted for my Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.  You can see all of those posts here:  Handmade by Cheryl for Shoeboxes.  I've also shared in this post Why I Like to Design My Own Crafts.

I'd love to hear where you find inspiration and patterns for crafting for shoeboxes.  What do you like to craft to include in your shoeboxes?
